We’re partnering with a well-established local government based east of Perth to find an experienced Payroll Officer who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive team and play a key role in delivering accurate and compliant payroll services. The role is for 6 months.
About the Role
Reporting to the Supervisor Payroll, you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring all employees are paid accurately, on time, and in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll, including new starters, terminations, and adjustments
- Ensure payroll is compliant with Industrial Agreements and relevant legislation
- Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data
- Provide advice to staff and managers on pay, leave, superannuation, and salary packaging
- Manage payroll reconciliations, payslips, and reporting obligations (including ATO requirements)
- Support Workers Compensation processing and documentation
- Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and system improvements
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery
About You
- Proven experience in payroll within a medium-sized organisation
- Strong understanding of Industrial Agreements and payroll legislation
- Experience with HRIS/payroll systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Aurion software experience (Advantageous)
- High attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach
- Discreet, professional, and able to handle confidential information
- Experience with superannuation and Workers Compensation processes
