Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Fleet Mechanic to join a local government team on a short-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a well-structured workshop environment supporting a diverse fleet of plant, vehicles, and equipment.
About the Role
Reporting to the relevant Supervisor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the mechanical workshop, ensuring all fleet, plant, and equipment are maintained to a high standard in line with best practice, WHS requirements, and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and carry out mechanical repairs and maintenance across fleet and plant equipment
- Conduct field service and breakdown repairs as required
- Support and guide mechanical trades personnel within the workshop
- Assist with resource allocation and work flow coordination
- Contribute to the plant replacement program in line with operational and budget requirements
- Provide technical input into plant and equipment procurement and analysis
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Proven experience as a qualified Mechanical Trades person
- Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A proactive and safety-focused approach to work
Essential Requirements
- Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
- Current National Police Clearance
- Relevant Mechanical Trade Qualification
- Demonstrated hands-on industry experience
Desirable
- Previous experience working within a local government environment
